Screenings, feedback and suspense…

Now every seat is occupied and the people is silently waiting for the presentation to start, the announcements roll, a few sponsors have commercials to show and the critics start…

It’s a weird feeling, something you worked in being show at a big screen, you try to gasp whatever commentary from anybody about the videos that are being shown, but then the screens fills with that work you made… Suddenly everyone become silent while I try to catch any comments, then a few whispers can be heard, but can’t understand what they say, some people cough, others just watch, then I find my self criticizing my work again, the volume is too high for that sound, some colors are just lost, the image on that take is just too dark, too bright or too fast… But nobody else notices that, they just want to be entertained and hope to watch something not so abstract or too weird.

At the end I got some applause from my family, a humble present for my work, can’t blame them, they tend to be very supportive, even when I don’t give them too much credit, but as the kids say “A kiss from you’r mother doesn’t count as a kiss”, well, I’m more concerned for the comments and reviews from people who doesn’t know me and being a bit too much perfectionist doesn’t help either.

So, at the end of the projection the first ones on congratulate me it’s my family and some schoolmates, also a couple professors, but I was craving some feedback from extrangers, bad luck and all, at school a few people know me (small school), and at the end of the projection the cinema schedule was chaos, so we had to run outside to let the business running. So, once again lost my chance to get some critics from totally unrelated people…

Anyway, the first screening was a total success with the audience, so my main feature (from the 3 I presented) “Aquí” got the “Audience award” as favorite, something that says a lot after the hours spent on that production, but the first place was just too close, a couple votes away…

Now, got the hype for “Films festivals”, so I’m entering on one from Spain called: “Festival internacional de cortometrajes con teléfono móvil”, a festival fitted for amateurs using mobile phones as main camera for the film, and now I’m listed there:

And also I sent some info to be considered for another, also from Spain:

Now, the wait game… Hope the short movie is good enough for the festival as is, and in the meantime I’ll wait for the people to vote a decide. Too bad I can’t go to the screenings there, but maybe if the feedback it’s good I’ll make another run at the festivals next year.

P.S. Vote for me!… 😛
